By

We’re excited to share that Storyshares author Kugu Soykan recently received the United States Congressional Award Gold Medal, the highest award given by the US Congress to youth for their leadership, community service, and social impact. Kugu was invited to Washington, DC for the Congressional Award Gold Medal Summit, where she was able to network with representatives from top companies, government positions, and politicians to discuss her Storyshares books and share the Storyshares vision.

Kugu was also invited to meet the Texas state Representatives, Keith Self, Monica De La Cruz, and Sheila Jackson Lee. Kugu presented the books she has written for Storyshares and the programs she has taken part in, and the representatives brought up opportunities for involving more groups in these projects in the coming years.

They will present her book in the Texas Representatives room for other Congresspeople and White House Representatives to view and read. Kugu was invited to join their team and work in their offices to represent Texas’ youth projects and programs. Kugu shared that “It will be a great opportunity to bring youth projects to their office programs and hopefully I will get an opportunity to represent projects and programs at the level of Texas Representatives and Congress.”

We’re proud of Kugu’s accomplishments and are excited to see the continuing impact of Storyshares authors going forward. Read Kugu's Storyshares books here!
